25x8 VISION MANAGER25x8 UMBRELLA MANAGERREMOTE COMPUTER & NETWORK CONTROLNow you can reboot any locked-up internetworking device or server through a standard dial-up PSTN modem, over an Ethernet network, via ISDN, GSM or over an X.25/Frame Relay network using the REMS Virtual Engineer. The REMS Virtual Engineer family of products provides an easy, practical, and secure solution for power management of remote computer servers, networking devices and internetworking equipment. REMS Virtual Engineer products provide the ability to remotely power cycle equipment such as servers, network hubs, switches, routers and ancillary computer equipment. They also permit the use of an out of band connection, over a totally separate network for resilience to the console port of each connected device, to aid recovery in total failure scenarios. This is particularly relevant to Internet Service Providers or major organisations, where it would be of significant benefit to centralise their support staff and reduce operational costs. INTELLIGENT RACKREMS "intelligent rack" combines the features of the Virtual Engineer power cycle equipment with temperature and humidity sensors into a standard 19" rack, to provide a macro level environment control system. The system can also be linked to the console ports of each device, to provide a single access point over TCP/IP, X.25, Frame Relay, ISDN, PSTN or GSM, for each of the units. The whole rack costs less than 8% more than a standard 39u/42u rack but when combined with the remote control system provides the ability to monitor and control the devices in each rack. VIRTUAL ENGINEER
The Virtual Engineer (VE) range of supervision systems is the culmination of more than 20 years experience: providing total site management solutions for the monitoring and control of mission critical equipment and environments. The modular concept of this innovative Virtual Engineer product portfolio has been designed and developed to meet the challenges of the 21st century. The Virtual Engineer is the "head end" unit, the devices that reside on the remote sites and controls the appropriate sensors and relays to ensure the customer’s requirements are met. This has several advantages including the provision of REMS sensors or existing sensors. Applications for the Virtual Engineer systems are limitless. They include uses in telecommunications, power distribution, transport infrastructure, water and gas industries, hospitals, hotels, restaurants, supermarkets, leisure and food industries, the public house and brewery industry, data support and other critical management and control environments.
Advanced communication technology ensures that vital, real time information is delivered instantly to the command centre. Decisions on maintenance requirements and future expansion can then be made on factual data derived from each element and site rather than guesswork. REMS 25x8 Vision systems provide all the information and data necessary to protect and manage your facilities and investment effectively, even at the most isolated location. It instantly brings remote sites and installations to your desktop.
VIRTUAL ENGINEER BENEFITSThe Virtual Engineer is fitted as standard with two flash memory devices. This enables changes to be incorporated in module functionality without the need to visit the remote site. This results in saving on management and maintenance costs. With a sophisticated and powerful microprocessor each Virtual Engineer module has a considerable number of programmable alarm parameters, which provide instant warning of a problem or emergency. The ability to monitor and control critical elements, via secure protocol routines, is provided via the advanced communications facility in each Virtual Engineer module. Irrespective of how widespread the network, each individual module and remote location can be monitored from anywhere, whether that is at the local office or a continent away. Individual modules can be connected in a master/slave arrangement, to provide a single point of reference for larger, remote sites and installations. You remain fully informed on all aspects of the system, including alarms, variations, failures or general operational items. Security of operations is assured. Any number of inputs can be combined to trigger a single alarm, event or control sequence. The Virtual Engineer expansion cards are fitted within the same enclosure, saving valuable rack capacity. The expansion modules enable monitoring and control capacity to be significantly increased, without the need for additional modules. VIRTUAL ENGINEER FEATURESThe functional and stylish Virtual Engineer range is supplied in either a secure enclosure suitable for desktop, shelf mounting or in a 1U rack format. All modules are available for operation with either 24VDC or 48VDC, or with a single phase 50/60 Hz 240/110 VAC power supply. Each Virtual Engineer module has a number of digital inputs, and outputs (by digital we mean either an "off"/"on" or "open"/"closed" state volt free contact/relay): each of which accepts metabolic or wide voltage formats. To meet the demands of limitless switching actions OPTO MOSFET digital outputs are included. Digital outputs are configured via Boolean logic expressions. All analogue inputs and outputs (by analogue we mean a constantly varying electrical signal over a predefined range, typically between 0 and 10VDC or 4 to 20mA) are independently configurable, to enable measured values and set point controls to be initiated. The configurable analogue output is provided for secure and precise control of devices.
The Virtual Engineer has a comprehensive information display, which is symbol based for easy diagnostic interpretation. A visual indicator provides you with an instant indication of the power supply status. All Virtual Engineers include LED alarm indicators, which are configurable, according to individual requirements. Each indicator will display a steady state, warning or alarm condition, in a three colour configuration, for greater ease of identification. Warning and alarm conditions are programmed to enable individual LED indicators to flash, providing further alert modes. Each LED can be configured off in steady state mode, for operation in darkroom conditions. LED functionality is configured via Boolean logic expressions. An audible alarm function is included, together with a cancel facility, for instant local recognition and acknowledgement of an alarm. An easy to read, alphanumeric backlit display is also included on the Virtual Engineer for local programming and status facilities. The function buttons enable each module to be configured via a logical programming sequence. All information and alarms are indicated in text form. Input, output, alarm descriptions and thresholds are individually programmable, together with the facility to interrogate the status of input and output signals.
